Principal's Message

My name is Tom Jones, and it is my honor to be Jackson Avenue’s principal. 

As a father of four, I know the value and importance of education in the lives of children. I strive to empower all students to reach their potential.  Growth mindset is so important for reaching new heights of achievement and accomplishing our goals.  I challenge myself daily by pushing past my comfort zone, and hope to inspire students to do the same. At Jackson Avenue we are always learning. 

This marks my 26th year in education, and I can still say every day is new, exciting, and challenging.  My career began as an elementary teacher for 10 years in both Antioch Unified and Amador County Unified School Districts.  I served as an instructional coach to teachers for a year followed by 2 years as a vice principal at Park Middle School, both in the Antioch Unified School District.  I then accepted a principal position in Byron Union School District at Timber Point Elementary School where I served for 5 years before joining Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District as Sunset Elementary School’s principal where I served for 4 years before joining Jackson Avenue in July 2021. 

It's a privilege to continue as Jackson Ave's Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.  I look forward to a great year of learning together.
